TOWNSQUARED

Townsquared is an online tool that makes it easier for neighborhood businesses to exchange knowledge and resources.
I led a design research project for Townsquared in their first year. The company was looking to learn more about the needs of local business owners, in order to build a better tool for them.
I led an un-orthodox design research process, hosting networking and education events for small businesses so that Townsquared could get to know their users intimately. It was important to understand the owners not just individually, but as an existing social group with long-standing relationships. At the live parties, casual conversation and interactive party games became data that drove insight for product improvements.
In addition to leading design research, I was part of a team of five designers that developed visual and interaction design for the beta version of the website (current as of Summer 2015).
